Short hair and cloche hats became very popular in the 1920’s. The cloche hat let everyone know you had short hair and so showed you were fashionable. The cloche hat even changed the body’s posture since it was pulled far over the eyes. With the eyes just under the brim women had to hold their heads at an upward angle to see where they were going.
